The University of Florida (UF) is a comprehensive American public land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant research university on a 2,000-acre (8.1 km^2) campus in Gainesville, Florida. Founded in 1853, UF is one of sixty-two elected member institutions of the Association of American Universities. The university comprises 16 colleges and more than 150 research, service and education centers, bureaus and institutes, offering more than 100 undergraduate majors and 200 graduate degrees, with a single-campus enrollment of approximately 55,000 students. For 2018, U.S. News & World Report ranked Florida as the ninth (tied) best public university in the United States.
