Tuesday, June 6 SISONIC - THE FIRST COMMERCIALIZED MEMS MICROPHONE Peter V. Loeppert, Ph.D. Knowles Electronics, LLC Dr. Loeppert received his Ph.D. from Purdue University in Electrical Engineering specializing in solid state devices. He joined the Gould Electronics corporate research center where he worked on a variety of projects including high speed A/D converters, chemical sensors, fiber optic systems, and GaAs circuits. In 1988, Dr. Loeppert joined Knowles Electronics as a vice president of engineering where he ran its wafer fab for a decade. During this period he oversaw intensive research into silicon microphones. In 1999, Dr. Loeppert joined what was to become the Knowles Acoustics division of Knowles Electronics as its vice president of engineering. It is this division that commercialized the SiSonicTM silicon microphone in 2002. |
